PROMOTING NATURE TOURISM ALONG THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER WORKSHOP SCHEDULED 2/7/2006 The National Audubon Society and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation will hold a "Promoting Nature Tourism Along the Mississippi" workshop at the Vicksburg, Miss. Convention Center from April 25-27. The workshop is designed to inform and educate the Lower Mississippi River region about the potential of this region as a destination for nature tourism. Workshop activities will include: · Presentations by nationally and regionally recognized experts on tourism trends, nature tourism successes, community impacts of nature tourism, tools for promoting nature tourism and private land issues. · A keynote address on the rediscovery of the ivory-billed woodpecker in Arkansas. · Field trips to local nature tourism sites in Mississippi and Louisiana. · A voyage on the Mississippi River to explore the undeveloped potential of the river as a nature tourism destination.
