On-Line Hunter Ed Offered In Limon

~ Classroom and shooting test 5-9 p.m. March 5 ~

The Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) is holding a hunter education class at the Limon Community Center at 477 D. Ave., from 5-9 p.m. on March 5.

Persons interested in fulfilling their hunter education requirement must complete the Internet version of hunter education training prior to attending.  Attendees can finish the course by taking the written exam and completing the firearms test.

Pre-registration is required.  Interested individuals should contact DOW District Wildlife Manager Warren Cummings at (719) 775-2025.

All hunters born after Jan. 1, 1949, must complete a hunter education course to be eligible to purchase a hunting license in Colorado.

The Internet Home-Study Hunter Ed course is an alternative designed to meet unusual schedules and different learning styles. The program covers the same information students would receive in a classroom setting. It does not, however, totally eliminate the need to attend a couple of classroom sessions.

In addition to completing the Internet Home-Study materials, students must register for and attend a designated home-study/Internet course taught by a certified instructor. This course provides additional skills training covering firearms handling, hunter responsibility, game laws, and other hands-on learning activities.

Home-study students must turn in all 41 printed quizzes and score sheets and pass the written exam.  In addition, each student must complete the live firearms exercises required of traditional hunter education students.
