Take “A Walk in The Tallgrass Prairie” at the Illinois State Museum - Registration deadline Feb. 15th for Camp-in SPRINGFIELD, IL – Imagine arriving in Illinois and encountering nothing but tallgrass prairie as far as the eye can see. Youngsters 8-to-11 years old are invited to join Illinois State Museum staff as they re-create this Grand Prairie experience at the annual ISM overnight children’s adventure. Participants will learn what Illinois looked like, listen to stories from the 1800s, explore the animals and plants that lived on the prairie through crafts and games and discover how settlers changed and adapted to their new environment. The Museum’s annual overnight camp-in begins at 7 p.m. on Sat., Feb. 18 and ends at 8 a.m. Sun., Feb. 19. The fee per child is $23.00 for Illinois State Museum Society members and $30.00 for non-members. If two or more children from the same family attend, the fee per child is $20.00 for members and $27.00 for non-members. Advance registration is required by Feb. 15.
