DNR seeks comments on lake management plans in Grand Rapids area

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is preparing
individual fisheries lake management plans for 24 lakes throughout the area.
Lake management plans are used by fisheries managers to describe the past,
present, and future conditions of the lake. The plans identify specific
management activities planned for that lake in the next five to 20 years.
The specific plans to be prepared this winter include:
Beauty
Stingy
Swan Bear
Nashwauk
Crooked
Wabana
Coon-Sandwick
Little Wabana
Pokegama
Spider
Bass
Johnson
North Star
Big Island
Little North Star
Deer (near Deer River)
Turtle
Alice
Tioga Mine Pit
Canisteo Mine Pit
Camp 4
Island (near Hibbing)
Sand (near Hibbing)
Some of the plans have been drafted and are available for review at the DNR
Area Fisheries Office. If you would like to make comments on any of the
plans, the office is located at 1201 East Highway 2, Grand Rapids or call
218-327-4430 during normal business hours (7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday
through Friday). Comments will be accepted until February 21, 2006.
