NRP Rescues Two
Hikers from Sugarloaf Mountain
On Friday, Jan. 27, NRP rescued two hikers in Frederick County. As
darkness fell, John Breeskin, 73 and Nadine Wiener, 50, both of Potomac,
became disoriented while hiking on Sugarloaf Mountain. Breeskin called 911
at 6 p.m.; an NRP officer located the two at 6:45 p.m. on an offshoot
trail of the Green Trail. While Breeskin had to be carried off the
mountain by rescue workers due to exhaustion, he refused subsequent
treatment. Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, Urbana Volunteer Fire and
Rescue Company and Montgomery County EMS assisted with the incident.
