Illinois Conservation Foundation Announces Youth Conservation Scholarship Winners - Scholarships to be awarded at ICF Hall of Fame Banquet March 4th

SPRINGFIELD, ILL. - The Illinois Conservation Foundation (ICF) today announced the winners of the 2006 Youth Conservation Scholarships. The scholarship program recognizes 10 high school juniors and seniors for their hard work and dedication toward preserving, promoting, enhancing or supporting natural resources in Illinois.

“These young men and women are the future of conservation and preservation of the outdoors in Illinois,” said Acting Director of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Sam Flood. “It’s gratifying to see our young people taking ownership in preserving the landscape, not only for themselves but for generations before and after them.”

Each winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship presented at the annual ICF Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame Banquet on March 4 at the Mark of the Quad Cities in Moline. The scholarship program is supported through funds raised at past banquets.

The Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame began in 2002 to honor people who have made significant and lasting contributions in protecting and enhancing Illinois’ natural resources for future generations.

This year’s scholarship winners are:

• T.D. Vanmiddlesworth of Cuba (Lewistown High School, senior)
