Division of Wildlife
DOW and Sportsmen to Discuss Issues in Rifle
The Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) is hosting a
meeting of the northwest Sportsmen's Advisory Group. The meeting will be
held Thursday, Feb. 2 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Rifle Fire Protection
District, 1850 Railroad Avenue.
Sportsmen's Advisory Group meetings are open to the public and provide an
opportunity for attendees to bring up any issues that they want the DOW to
address.
"We don't head into these meetings with a set agenda," said Ron Velarde, DOW
Northwest Regional Manager. "The goal is to let the public bring topics to
us. We want to hear their concerns, comments, and questions."
Each of the four DOW regions has an advisory group. A statewide group is
comprised of members from the four regional groups. Sportsmen's Advisory
Groups were originally developed in 2003 to assist with preparing an
equitable license fee bill for the legislature; however the success of the
group led DOW Director Bruce McCloskey to call for continuing the public
communication effort.
