A. Wyoming regulation prohibits hunting wild bison with archery equipment. In addition, the firearms that may be used are also more restrictive for bison requiring a cartridge with a minimum .27 caliber and it must fire an expanding bullet of at least 150 grains with an overall cartridge length of two inches. This is larger than the .23 caliber minimum requirement for other big game species.
