APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED FOR FISH POND STOCKING

December 19, 2005

Owners of newly constructed or recently renovated ponds without wild fish present may apply now to stock their ponds with largemouth bass and bream (bluegill and shellcracker). The Fisheries Section of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Wildlife & Freshwater Fisheries Division will stock ponds that contain no fish and are larger than 1/4 surface acre (1/2 surface acre if pond is not to be fertilized). Stan Cook, Chief of Fisheries, advises pond owners to request their fish application early and return the application before the February 1, 2006 deadline.
