The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) is
trolling for better information about groups and individuals offering
fishing skills education programs.
From Boy Scouts to high schools, the PFBC estimates that hundreds of
clubs, camps and schools present fishing skills workshops, classes and
events. In an attempt to document the scope and frequency of these
efforts, the PFBC is conducting an online survey through the end of
January 2006. The intent of the survey is inventory fishing skills
programs and find out what support they need to continue to thrive and
grow in Pennsylvania.
“There are lots of great programs out there. We want to find out more
about fishing education efforts so that we can better support them with
promotion, equipment and, perhaps, even funding,” said Carl Richardson,
aquatic resource education program manager for the PFBC.
Those who host or
sponsor fishing skills education programs are encouraged to log on to
the survey at:
http://www.djcase.com/pa_fish_boat.
Survey participants will receive a 2006
Pennsylvania League of Angling Youth (PLAY) patch, featuring a
yellow perch. The collectable patches have been produced annually since
1980.
