EXTENDED BEAR SEASON TO
BE HELD IN CERTAIN WMUS 11/25/2005 - HARRISBURG - While Pennsylvania bear hunters are on pace to set a new harvest record for the three-day statewide season, Pennsylvania Game Commission officials today reminded those hunters with bear licenses that they have another week in which to take a bear in certain Wildlife Management Units (WMUs) in northeastern portion of the state. This year's extended season will run from Nov. 28 to Dec. 3, in WMUs 3B, 3C, 3D, 4C and 4E, in northeastern Pennsylvania. This season is concurrent with the first week of the two-week rifle deer season. For more information, hunters should consult pages 38 and 39 of the 2005-06 Pennsylvania Digest of Hunting and Trapping Regulations, which is provide to each license buyer. Also, maps of the WMUs are on pages 43-46 of the Digest. Bear licenses must be purchased at any issuing agency, including online, prior to the opening day of the firearms deer season, Nov. 28. Those who already purchased their general hunting license can add a bear license by purchasing it through "The Outdoor Shop" on the Game Commission's website (www.pgc.state.pa.us). Click on "Licenses," then select the type of general hunting license you already possess and click the "Next" button at the bottom of the page. On the next screen, fill in the information and then select "Bear" from the "Stamp Information" section and fill in your current backtag number from your general hunting license and click "Next" at the bottom of the page. When you go to the end of the process, you will be charged only for a bear license, and you will be provided with a web order number that must be written on the current general hunting license and signed. # # # Content Last Modified on 11/23/2005 3:59:39 PM
