AGFC looking for
input on Little Missouri River fishery |
MURFREESBORO
- Trout and smallmouth bass - the best of both worlds for some fishermen
- run hot and cold along 38 miles of the Little Missouri River.
The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is looking for input from anglers
and others who want to help. AGFC fisheries biologists are announcing
plans to meet with anyone interested in management of the Little
Missouri River from Narrows Dam to U.S. Highway 67 east of Prescott.
The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Trout Management Program has
developed a new process for creating management plans for trout
fisheries around Arkansas, involving people and anglers interested in
helping. The AGFC’s trout fishery managers and warmwater stream
fisheries managers will begin using this process to develop a trout and
warmwater fisheries management plan for the 38
miles of the Little Missouri River from Narrows Dam downstream to
Hwy 67 east of Prescott. Two public informational forums have already
been held in Prescott and Murfreesboro.
Two public workshops also have been scheduled. The first begins at 6:30
p.m.,
Nov. 28, at
Murfreesboro City Hall. The second is 6:30 p.m., Nov. 29, at the
Potlatch Building at the Nevada County Fairgrounds in Prescott. At
these workshops a facilitator will work with participants to document
the issues that AGFC should focus on while developing a management plan
for the river. Participants will also be given the opportunity to give
advice on how to handle the issues identified. Facilitator Spencer Amend
of Dynamic Solutions Group will conduct the workshops.
Finally, a facilitated workshop will be held at 6:30 p.m., Jan. 16, at
Murfreesboro City Hall. Everyone is welcome to participate and evaluate
the management options created during the two previous public workshops. |
