The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s Delaware
Coastal Programs is currently seeking grant proposals for projects and
activities that conserve, manage and engage communities for improved natural
resources management. The deadline for submission of proposals is November
23, 2005.
The Request for Proposals announces the availability of up to $100,000 in
funds for projects and activities for the following two programs:
Natural Resource Management Grant Program: This grant program seeks
proposals to enhance habitat and natural resource planning, management and
protection in Delaware. It provides an opportunity to plan for the
preservation and enhancement of natural and community resources, as well as
the development and implementation of education/outreach or training
targeting community engagement. Grants are available to county and municipal
governments, conservation agencies, civic or environmental non-profit
organizations, as well as local colleges or universities. Past awards ranged
from $2,000 - $25,000.
Community Open Space Technical Assistance Program: This grant program seeks
to work with communities interested in improving their ability to restore,
manage, and maintain large tracts of community open space as natural
habitat. It is available to communities, civic associations and maintenance
corporations that manage land within their neighborhoods. The award will
provide start-up costs, technical planning and community outreach
assistance. Past awards ranged from $1,500 - $4,500 for natural habitat
enhancements.
