INFORMATION SOUGHT ON POACHING CASES NEAR WRIGHT AND CHEYENNE

CHEYENNE  -- The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking information about the poaching of two trophy bull elk in the Rochelle Hills east of Wright and a buck mule deer in Curt Gowdy State Park between Cheyenne and Laramie.   
 

          The first bull elk was discovered Oct. 13 with the head, cape and some meat removed.  Most of the meat had been left to rot. According to South Gillette Game Warden Aaron Kerr, the elk was probably killed sometime on Oct. 12.


          Cheyenne Game Warden Mark Nelson reported a “big-bodied” mule deer buck was shot Nov. 7 or 8 just west of Crystal Reservoir off the Crystal Lake Road in Curt Gowdy State Park. The head was removed and the rest of the deer left to rot.


          The officers ask that anyone with information regarding these crimes, even if it is second hand, please report it to the Stop Poaching Hotline at (800) 442-4331. Callers can remain anonymous and are eligible for a cash reward if the information leads to a conviction.
