Deer Hunting 2005 Frequently Asked Questions & Answers

WATERBURY, VT - "What is a legal buck this year in Vermont?" It's a deer with at least one antler having two or more points one inch or longer.

That's just one of 36 frequently asked questions and answers posted by the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department on their website (www.vtfishandwildlife.com) to help hunters become familiar with new deer hunting rules.

The department has sent out news releases, staff have done news interviews, and they distributed 100,000 copies of "Vermont Deer Hunting 2005," a supplement to the 2005 Digest of Hunting, Fishing and Trapping Laws. License agents are supposed to hand out the Digest and the supplement when a person purchases a hunting license.

"The frequently asked questions are just one more way of making sure hunters understand the 2005 hunting rules," said John Hall, information manager for the department. "The new rules mean some sacrifices now in hunting opportunities, but they are designed to improve deer hunting in the years ahead."

A printed copy of the questions and answers also is available from the Fish & Wildlife Department by calling 802-241-3700.
