10/4/05 Trout Begin Heading to Summerset Oct. 13 INDIANOLA - The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will begin stocking trout at Summerset State Park on Oct. 13, when 1,600 rainbows are released in the 59-acre lake. A total of 5,000 rainbow trout will be stocked in the central Iowa state park. "The Summerset trout fishery was a tremendous success last year and introduced hundreds of local residents to the fun and challenge of trout fishing," said Marion Conover, chief of the DNR's fisheries bureau. Trout will be stocked again in November, January and March. Summerset State Park is the only central Iowa trout fishery. The trout are from the Big Spring hatchery near Elkader. Anglers who want to fish for the trout are required to purchase the trout privilege for $11 in addition to an Iowa fishing license. The daily bag limit for trout is five and the possession limit is 10.
