KINGMAN, Ariz. - The Arizona Game and Fish Department is offering a
reward for information leading to the arrest of the individual or
individuals responsible for a recent illegal killing of a mule deer buck
northwest of Prescott, Ariz.
"The poaching was either on Sept. 23 or 24," says Darren Tucker, a wildlife
manager based in Prescott. "A mature mule deer buck was killed approximately
two miles west of the Yolo Ranch headquarters, located west of Camp Wood."
Only the deer's head and antlers were removed with the rest of the animal
being left in the field. The deer was killed with archery equipment or
possibly a crossbow. Archery deer season closed on Sept. 15, more than a
week prior to the deer's death.
"Department officers are investigating evidence left at the scene," Tucker
says, "but it would be a significant help if a responsible citizen would
step forward with information regarding this crime."
To report information on this, or any Game and Fish violation, call the
department's Operation Game Thief hotline toll-free at (800) 352-0700.
Caller identities may remain confidential upon request, and callers may be
eligible to receive a reward up to $500 upon the arrest of the violator(s).
