FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
“We are happy that we’ve reached an agreement that will allow people to enjoy the park without an interruption in services,” said IDNR Director Joel Brunsvold. “Visitors should see no changes as the Forest Preserve District will continue to operate the James “Pate” Philip State Park visitors’ center and provide park services.” Forest Preserve District of DuPage County President D. “Dewey” Pierotti said he was extremely pleased that the parties were able to work cooperatively to come to a resolution that will ensure the continued operation of the park until a permanent solution can be found. “The important point is that this valuable natural resource and educational center will remain open to the public, especially for the many school children who participate in educational programs at the site,” said Pierotti. The existing agreement between IDNR and the district has been in place since the park opened, and expires on September 30, 2005. This agreement will be in effect until June 30, 2006.
