Anglers Can Find Good Stream Fishing at Beaver Dam State
Park
Anglers looking for a place to catch rainbow trout while enjoying beautiful
scenery and pleasant September weather are being advised by the Nevada
Department of Wildlife (NDOW) to try the stream at Beaver Dam State Park
below where the reservoir was located.
Jim Heinrich, NDOW fisheries biologist, said recent surveys conducted by the
agency reveal the trout are largely concentrated in deep pools. “This is an
ideal situation for fishing,” he said.
Heinrich said the park, which is managed by the Nevada Division of State
Parks, has excellent camping facilities. It is located approximately 28
miles northeast of Caliente with access on a graded dirt road.
“Now is a nice time to visit the park because of the nice weather. But you
had better hurry because the weather in the park will turn cold and there
can even be snowfall by early October,” Heinrich said.
