Massachusetts Outdoor Expo Sept. 25

9/6/2005  -  Mark your calendars and join the fun at the 9th annual Massachusetts Outdoor Expo (MOE) from 9AM - 4:30 PM at the Hamilton Rod and Gun Club, off New Boston Road, in Sturbridge. The Big MOE is sponsored by Facts About Wildlife and Nature Society (FAWNS) is a family oriented, free event, thanks to co-sponsors including MassWildlife, Hamilton Rod and Gun Club, and The Weatherby Foundation. Several area sportsmens clubs and other conservation groups also participate. The "Big MOE" is the perfect opportunity to introduce young and old to the wonders of the outdoors. Impressive live birds of prey, snakes and turtles will be on display. Scale a rock climbing wall and shoot a bow and arrow. Turkey calling, taxidermy, black powder stump shoot demonstrations and a New England Pioneer Encampment will run throughout the day. Try your hand at tomahawk throwing, fishing, building a bird house or testing marksmanship skills on the airgun, rifle, shotgun or archery target ranges under safe and expert supervision. Offerings from MassWildlife include, seeing (and drawing) youth artwork from the Massachusetts Junior Duck Stamp Program or fishing with the Angler Education Program. The Massachusetts Hunter Education Program will feature a brief firearms safety session for all who wish to participate at the shooting stations as well as a Hunting Simulation station.
