The nine-day season will close at sunset September 18. In that open zone, all areas will be open to teal hunting except federal or state refuges, unless otherwise specified. The season will not be open in the northern part of the state, which has been designated a waterfowl production area. Shooting hours will be 30 minutes before sunrise to sunset. The use of steel shot is required for all waterfowl hunting in Nebraska. Hunters should keep in mind that all migratory birds except doves must have one fully feathered wing or head plumage attached when in transport. Duck hunters are required to have in their possession a 2005 Nebraska hunting permit, a 2005 Nebraska Habitat Stamp, a valid Federal Waterfowl Stamp and be registered with the Harvest Information Program (HIP). The exceptions are all hunters under 16 years of age are not required to have a Federal Waterfowl Stamp, and residents under 16 years of age are not required to have a hunting permit, Habitat Stamp, or be registered with the HIP. Nebraska hunting permits and Habitat Stamps are available from all Game and Parks Commission offices, permit vendors across the state, and on the Commission’s web site at www.outdoornebraska.org (Habitat Stamps purchased on the web site must be purchased with a hunting permit). Register for a HIP number online at www.nehip.com or call the HIP 24-hour, toll-free number, 1-888-403-2473. Federal Waterfowl Stamps may be purchased from Game and Parks offices or the Post Office.
