Fall outdoors workshop planned for women at Eagle Bluff (2005-08-30)

The Becoming an Outdoor Women (BOW) program is hosting its annual fall workshop Sept. 16-18 at Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center in Lanesboro.

Classes offered include fly-fishing, mock bow hunting, archery, shooting sports, birding, canoeing, kayaking, biking and a ropes course. Women sign up for four classes during the weekend. Lodging, meals, instruction, equipment and evening entertainment are all included for a low workshop fee.

"The fall workshop is very popular among women and provides women a unique opportunity to try out different sports in a supportive atmosphere," said Linda Bylander, BOW coordinator. To register, call Eagle Bluff at 1-888-800-9558.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resource (DNR) BOW program is entering its 11th year of programming. The mission of BOW is to teach women outdoor skills in the areas of hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation. For 2005, BOW is offering 38 half-day and weekend classes. Woman can access the events calendar on the DNR's Web site at www.dnr.state.mn.us/education or request a printed copy by calling the DNR Information Center at (651) 296-6157 or toll free 1-888-MINNDNR (646-6367).
