L.D.W.F. ANNOUNCES LOTTERY DEER HUNTS ON WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREAS 9/2/2005 The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has scheduled general, youth and physically challenged deer lottery hunts on Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) across the state for the 2005-06 deer-hunting season. A general lottery deer hunt will be held on Bayou Macon WMA located in East Carroll Parish on Nov. 19-20. Applications for this general hunt are due on Sept. 7 and may be submitted as a group. Groups cannot exceed five individual applicants and must be stapled (not paper clipped) together. Group applications will be drawn as a group. Youth lottery deer hunts will be held at four WMAs. Applicants must be between 8-15 years old, except for the Dewey W. Wills WMA hunt that requires applicants to be under 16 years old. Chosen applicants must also bring an escort that is at least 18 years old. · Floy McElroy WMA in Richland Parish - Applications are due by Sept. 7.
Hunt dates are on Oct 22-23, Nov. 5-6 and 12-13. LDWF and Wheeling Sportsmen Association are again offering a physically challenged lottery deer hunt at the Sabine WMA located in Sabine Parish near the towns of Many and Zwolle on Oct. 8-9. Interested hunters must submit an application by Sept. 7. Physically challenged hunters may bring someone to accompany them or Wheeling Sportsman volunteers will provide assistance. Successful applicants will be provided with additional information on the hunt procedures. For additional information contact the Region 3 office at 318-487-5885. Only one application per hunter can be submitted for each WMA deer lottery hunt. A non-refundable $5 check or money order made payable to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is required with each application. Applications are available at LDWF region offices and on the Web site at www.wlf.louisiana.gov by clicking on "Hunting Information," then by clicking "Seasons and Regulations," and then by clicking "Lottery Hunt Applications." Successful applicants will be notified by mail with their lottery permits. Applicants are required to have all appropriate licenses including WMA hunting permits and Harvest Information Program (HIP) permits. No licenses will be available at the hunting site. License information can be obtained at any LDWF region office and on the LDWF Web site at www.wlf.louisiana.gov.
