Contact: Susan Douglas Brown County State Park celebrates Grandparents Day September 11 Grandchildren can celebrate their grandparents September 11 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., as Brown County State Park offers a full day of programs and activities. Celebrating the Generations is the theme for the day, which starts at 10 a.m. with an easy walk on the Friend’s Trail. Other activities to share will include a picnic lunch (provided by the Abe Martin Lodge and the Friends of Brown County State Park), programs on nature journaling, bats, flower- and leaf-pressing, and a craft project for old and young alike to make and take home. Additional time has been set aside for just relaxing under a tree and enjoying time together. Registration is not required, but is suggested. Call the nature center at 812-988-5240. There is no cost for this event, but donations will be accepted to help with the cost of materials. The regular gate fee ($4 per vehicle; $5 per out-of-state vehicle) applies.
