Lower White Oak Lake drawdown to begin Sept. 15
BLUFF CITY - The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will draw down Lower White Oak Lake in September. The popular lake in south Arkansas will be lowered approximately 4 feet to allow dredging of the channel that flows through the park and complete the construction of a two-lane boat ramp.

Material dredged from the channel will be used as fill for the parking area near the new boat ramp, according to AGFC fisheries biologist Don Turman. "It will also allow the White Oak Lake Citizens Advisory Committee to finish marking the boat lanes on the Lower lake and construct courtesy docks at two other access areas on the lake, Turman said. "Several lakeside property owners have expressed a need to repair boathouses and piers on the lake," he added.

The drawdown will begin on Sept. 15 and should be complete by Dec. 31. Questions about the lake drawdown can be directed to Turman at (877) 836-4612 or by e-mail to dlturman@agfc.state.ar.us.
