Contact: Liz Androskaut Grand opening of archery trail at Raccoon SRA set for September 10 Part of National Hunting and Fishing Day celebration Raccoon State Recreation Area at Cecil M. Harden Lake Reservoir, Brookville, will celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day on September 10. Visitors are invited to tour the new archery trail and participate in hunting- and fishing-related activities. The newly constructed archery trail, located near the entrance of the park, includes a range and five stations nestled in the woods. Targets include a woodchuck, raccoon, coyote, turkey and deer. The deer station has an ADA-accessible blind. From clues left behind, visitors can test their tracking and observation skills, determining which creatures have been visiting the Chapel Shelter. In addition, children and adults are invited to learn about the fish found at Cecil M. Harden Lake by playing a game of fish golf, a unique game using fishing poles instead of clubs. Raccoon State Recreation Area is located on State Road 36 in Parke and Putnam counties in west-central Indiana, 50 miles west of Indianapolis and 35 miles northeast of Terre Haute.
