NEW STATE RECORD BIGHEAD CARP TAKEN FROM MIDDLE ISLAND LAKE - Tom Keith

LINCOLN, Neb. -- A new state record bighead carp was caught by Ryan Othling of Lincoln while he was fishing Middle Island Lake near South Bend in Cass County on August 8.

The 53 pound, 3 ounce carp took a shad rap Othling was casting for largemouth bass.

The previous state record bighead carp weighed 46 pounds, 8 ounces. It was taken from Offutt Air Force Base Lake in 2000 on a Kast Master lure.
