Drawing for Overton Dove Hunt Reservations

Drawings for dove hunting reservations for the opening day and first weekend of the season at Overton Wildlife Management Area will be held Monday, Aug. 29, at 8 a.m. at Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) offices at 4747 Vegas Drive in Las Vegas and 744 South Racetrack Road in Henderson.

Reservations will be limited to 60 hunters for the opening day and first weekend at the area, which is located south of the town of Overton.

The mourning dove season in Nevada runs from Thursday, Sept. 1, through Friday, Sept. 30. Hunters are required to have a Nevada hunting license and Harvest Information Program (HIP) number when hunting doves in the state. Upland game stamps are not required for hunting doves, but are required when hunting chukar, quail, blue grouse, sage grouse and other upland game birds.

Information about hunting doves and upland game birds may be obtained by contacting any NDOW office or visiting the agency’s web site at www.ndow.org.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife is the state agency responsible for the restoration and management of fish and wildlife resources, and the promotion of boating safety on Nevada’s waters. Wildlife offices are located in Las Vegas, Henderson, Winnemucca, Fallon, Elko, and Reno. For more information, contact the agency web site at www.ndow.org.
