“Becoming an Outdoors-Woman, California” announces the popular Multi-Course Workshop for archery, fly and bait fishing, fly tying, map and compass reading, outdoor/Dutch oven cooking, shotgun and rifle shooting, knot tying, backpacking, and kayaking. The workshop is held Oct. 28-30 in Fresno at Wonder Valley Ranch Resort and Conference Center.

Nestled in the Sierra Nevada foothills, approximately 30 minutes east of Fresno on 75 shaded acres of mature oaks and sycamore groves, Wonder Valley is unparalleled in providing peace and beauty in addition to outstanding meals and workshop facilities.

This is an opportunity to learn the basics in the four major outdoor activities while receiving hands-on training, said Program Director Susan Herrgesell. “The women who attend this event leave with huge amounts of self-confidence and self-esteem,” she said.

Workshop registration fee is $350 and covers all instruction, equipment, and supplies (except a fishing license, required for open water fishing). The fee also covers three days and two nights lodging, seven fabulous meals, two evening programs and entertainment, raffles, merchandise and more. The fun, the renewed confidence, the camaraderie and the memories are all at no extra charge. Several photographers will capture lasting memories of the event.

Registration deadline is Oct. 3, and the workshop is limited to 100 participants. All major credit cards are accepted, and people should register early to guarantee a space at this popular event.

“I first took part in a three-day workshop with a friend,” said Denise McKahn, a previous participant and employee of the Ripon Unified School District. “When I walked away after meeting all of these skilled women, I was a new person. I found out there were a lot of things I could do.”

Workshop instructors are certified specialists in fields that include professional biologists, hunters, anglers, and other outdoor enthusiasts. Each of the instructors has been selected because they excel at providing training for women.

“This event is a chance for women to invest in themselves,” Herrgesell said. “Now is the time for you to step outside and ‘Become an Outdoors-Woman.’”

“Becoming an Outdoors-Woman, California” is a non-profit, public benefit corporation sponsored and funded by individual contributions that are tax-deductible under 501(c) (3). The primary purpose of the organization is to provide outdoor educational opportunities in a fun, exciting, safe and non-threatening environment. The target audience is women, ages 18 and over. Information and registration are available at www.bowcalifornia.org or by calling (707) 448-1230.
