Public Invited to Attend Meeting on Gourdneck State Game Area

The Department of Natural Resources will hold a public meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, to discuss the strategic plan for the Gourdneck State Game Area in Kalamazoo County. The meeting will take place at the Portage Public Library located at 300 Library Lane in Portage.

The updated plan for the Gourdneck State Game Area is available for public viewing during business hours at the following locations:

bulletCrane Pond State Game Area Office, 60887 M-40, Jones
bulletDNR Plainwell Operations Service Center, 621 N. 10th Street, Plainwell
bulletPortage Public Library, 300 Library Lane, Portage

Strategic plans outline the management that will occur on these lands, which are administered by the DNR Wildlife Division. These lands were purchased and dedicated specifically for wildlife restoration and wildlife-related recreation.

Staff will be available to informally meet with the public to answer questions and accept input. The DNR will accept written comments on the strategic plan prior to the open house.
