Ask Fish And Game

Q. I applied for a controlled hunt and didn't draw. Now I see that permits for that hunt are available. How can that be?

A. All of the available tags for that hunt were drawn. For whatever reason, some of the people whose names were drawn for deer, elk, antelope, and fall black bear did not purchase their permits by the August 1 deadline. When that happens, all unclaimed permits go into the second controlled hunt drawing. That's good news for you since you now have another chance to draw a permit in the hunt you desire. Just make sure you put in a new application for the second drawing by August 15.
