DORADO - The eighth annual SouthArk Outdoor Expo in El Dorado on
Saturday, Sept. 10, will feature an appearance by ESPN fishing
show host Jimmy Houston and a variety of exhibits, vendors and
activities designed to highlight outdoor recreational opportunities in
southern Arkansas.
Outdoors exhibits
will include archery, fly-fishing, Dutch oven cooking and knife-making.
Among the activities for children will be a casting contest, Native
American dance instruction, outdoor crafts and an “archery alley.”
Among many items for
sale will be hunting and fishing gear, wildlife art, gifts,
books, outdoor apparel, boats, recreational and all-terrain vehicles and
game calls. The event will also include a rib cook-off and a duck
calling contest.
The expo will be
from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in and around the Billy McGehee Building on the
east campus of the South Arkansas Community College at 3696 E. Main St.
Admission will be $5 for persons 12 and older and free for children
under 12. Proceeds from the show benefit scholarships and other
