Delaware National Research Reserve Offers Eco-Camp Programs at St. Jones Reserve

Get the kids outside during their summer break! Bring them to the St. Jones Reserve three mornings next week for eco-camp. Children ages 10-13 will meet on Tuesday, Aug. 9 to Thursday, Aug. 11, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Campers will participate in numerous hands-on activities to explore nature, including a visit to nearby Bowers Beach. Participants are asked to bring a snack and a bottle of water and to wear old clothes and sneakers that can get wet, muddy, and messy! No swim suits please.

Day camps are held at the St. Jones Reserve, located on Kitts Hummock Road, east of the John Dickinson Plantation. Pre-registration is required by Friday, Aug. 5. A minimum of five children must register for the program to take place.

For information and registration, call (302) 739-3436 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve is a partnership between the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The program is administered through DNREC’s Division of Soil and Water Conservation in the Delaware Coastal Programs section.
