Hands-on Activities Featured at 3-Day Eco-Camp Programs
for Kids Offered by Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve; Register
by July 1 for Day Camps Held at St. Jones Reserve
Get the kids outside during their summer break! Bring them to the St.
Jones Reserve for a 3-day camp.
Children ages 8-12 will meet on Tuesday, July 5 to Thursday, July 7, from 9
a.m. to noon. Children ages 5-8 will meet on Monday, July 18 and Tuesday,
July 19, from 9 a.m. to noon.
The children will participate in numerous hands-on activities to explore
nature, including a visit to nearby Bowers Beach. Participants are asked to
bring a snack and a bottle of water and wear old clothes and sneakers that
can get wet, muddy, and messy! No swim suits please.
Day camps are held at the St. Jones Reserve, located on Kitts Hummock Road,
east of the John Dickinson Plantation. Pre-registration is required by
Friday, July 1. A minimum of 5 children must register for the program to
take place. For information and registration, call (302) 739-3436 from 8
a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve is a partnership between
the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control
(DNREC) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The
program is administered through DNREC’s Division of Soil and Water
Conservation in the Delaware Coastal Programs section.
