Refuges accepting applications for modern gun deer hunt

AUGUSTA - The modern gun deer hunts at Cache River, Bald Knob and Wapanocca National Wildlife Refuges will again be quota hunts.  The Cache River Refuge hunt will occur Nov. 12-16 and the Bald Knob and Wapanocca Refuge hunts will be held Nov. 12-13.

To apply for either hunt, complete the following:

*Print or type your name, mailing address, date of birth on one side of a 3x5 index card or standard postcard.  Indicate the refuge (either Cache River, Wapanocca or Bald Knob) hunt for which you are applying. Separate applications are required for each refuge.

*To apply as a group (maximum of five hunters per group for Cache River and Bald Knob and maximum of three hunters per group for Wapanocca), list required information for all applicants on the same card. Applicants under the age of 16 must apply with an adult age 21 or greater as a party (both on same card).  Duplicated, unclear or incomplete applications will not be considered.

*Return completed application according to postal regulations between July 1 and Aug. 15 to: Central Arkansas Refuges, 26320 Highway 33 South, Augusta, AR 72006-9713. Successful applicants will be notified in October and must pay a $12.50 fee for the permit.
