Contact: Carla Striegel Canoe lesson offered at O’Bannon Woods June 25 This’ll float your boat… O’Bannon Woods State Park (formerly Wyandotte Woods State Recreation Area) west of Corydon will offer canoe lessons for beginners (and those needing a refresher) on Saturday, June 25. The lesson will cover basic paddling methods and efficiency, canoe safety, and rescue techniques. Participants will have time after the lesson to practice what they’ve learned. The hour-and-a-half lesson starts at 11 a.m. EDST ("fast time," or Louisville time) at Wyandotte Wetland (the old Wyandotte Lake), courtesy of Hickory Hollow Interpretive Center. Canoes and equipment are provided, and participants should wear clothing and shoes that can get wet. Cost is $5 per person, plus the park entrance fee ($4/vehicle; $5/out-of-state vehicle).
