L.W.F.C. PASSES MOTION TO RESCIND RESTRICTION ON DOG HUNTING 6/6/2005 The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission (LWFC) overturned a ruling at last month's meeting that restricted the use of dogs for deer hunting in the Atchafalaya Basin at their June 2 meeting. This motion means that dog-hunting rules will go back to their former status and that the commission will take a longer look into the issue to allow for more public comment. The commission also passed a motion that will allow the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries' Secretary, Dwight Landreneau, to appoint a dog hunting committee made up of landowners and still and dog hunters to address the issue of dog hunting statewide. This committee will make recommendations to the LWFC at its December 2005 meeting.
