ROCK - For more than 40 years, the Arkansas Wildlife Federation has been
presenting special awards to outstanding individuals, organizations and
businesses in recognition of their outstanding conservation efforts. The
Federation is now accepting nominations for this year's awards.
The winners will be given customized statuettes at a banquet in Little
Rock on the evening of Aug. 18. The event will be held at the Aerospace
Education Center. Nominations must be received at the AWF office in
Little Rock no later than noon. June 21. Nominations are accepted via
email (awf@aristotle.net), regular mail (AWF Nominations, 9700 Rodney
Parham, Suite I-2, Little Rock, AR 72227) or fax at (501) 224-9214.
Nominations should not be longer than three pages.
If practical, please provide eight copies of the nomination. Nominees do
not have to be members of the Federation nor involved in any of its
activities. Winners of these awards are selected by the Federation's
executive committee. Officers, directors and staff of the Arkansas
Wildlife Federation are not eligible.
The awards are cosponsored by the National Wildlife Federation, Arkansas
Natural Heritage Commission, Arkansas Environmental Federation, several
other organizations, businesses and individuals. Additional sponsorships
are available for $500. The Arkansas Wildlife Federation is a private,
nonprofit conservation organization that was founded nearly 70 years
ago.
The individuals and groups who are selected as winners of these
prestigious awards have made a significant difference in the
conservation of Arkansas' natural resources. When trying to decide who
should be nominated, think of those whose efforts have made a positive
difference in Arkansas' environmental quality of life. For additional

The award categories are:
*The Harold Alexander Award-Conservationist of the Year: This is the
highest honor the Federation can bestow. It recognizes outstanding
efforts in conservation;
*Outstanding Natural Resource Agency Employee: This award recognizes an
employee of state, federal or private natural resource agencies,
organizations or businesses who has gone beyond the call of duty in his
or her work to promote the wise stewardship of our state's resources;
*Youth Conservationist of the Year: This award is presented to
individuals or groups composed of youngsters 18 years of age or younger
who are having a positive impact on the conservation of our natural
resources;
* Hunter Education Instructor of the Year: The winner of this statuette
is a person or organization that has worked diligently to promote the
Hunter Education Program;
*Conservation Organization of the Year: This honor is given to an
organization who has worked effectively on conserving Arkansas' natural
resources through various methods;
*Conservation Educator of the Year: Either a professional or volunteer
educator can win this honor for outstanding efforts to promote or
enhance conservation education;
*The Carol Griffee Award-Conservation Communicator of the Year: This
award is presented to those in the print or broadcast business who
perform outstanding service to citizens and the environment through
excellent reporting or similar efforts;
*Water Conservationist of the Year: This honor is earned by a citizen or
organization who works to conserve the state's waters;
*Corporate Conservationist of the Year: The beautiful statuette given
for this high honor goes to a business that goes beyond the call of duty
in its efforts to promote environmental stewardship and conservation;
*Forest Conservationist of the Year: This award is presented to those
who promote conservation of our forests. |
