Lake and Pond Depth Maps Now Available at Fish and Game Website

CONCORD, N.H. -- New Hampshire's anglers can now access more than 130 lake depth ("bathymetry") maps at N.H. Fish and Game's website -- CLICK HERE. The maps were developed by Fish and Game using lake survey data from the N.H. Department of Environmental Services.

"One of the most common requests we get from anglers is for depth chart maps of New Hampshire waterbodies," said Gabe Gries, fisheries biologist with Fish and Game's Region 4 office in Keene. "Anglers know that one of the best ways to locate good spots to fish, especially in summer and winter, is to find dropoffs and other rapid changes in water depth."

This is the first time these maps have been available free of charge and in an easy-to-download electronic format. The data used to create the maps is not currently available for all lakes and ponds in the state. Over time, as depth data for additional lakes and ponds is generated by Department of Environmental Services survey crews, maps of those waterbodies will be developed and posted to the website, according to Gries.

The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department works to conserve, manage and protect the state's fish and wildlife and their habitats, as well as providing the public with opportunities to use and appreciate these resources.
