Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission To Meet June 9 In Helena

Montana’s Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission will meet in Helena June 9 at the FWP headquarters, 1420 East 6 th Ave at 8 a.m.   

The FWP Commission will make final decisions on: acquiring a Fishing Access Site on the Sun River; acquiring the Whitehall Community Piedmont Fish Pond near Whitehall; the 2005 moose, bighorn sheep, and mountain goat hunting harvest quotas; the 2005 mountain lion hunting harvest quotas; the 2006 moose, bighorn sheep, goat, deer and elk auction and lottery annual rules; and the introduction of trumpeter swans in the Blackfoot River Valley. The commission will also make final decisions on a livestock-grazing lease on Mt. Haggin Wildlife Management Area south of Anaconda, and a grazing lease at the Ear Mountain WMA west of Choteau.

The FWP Commission will make tentative decisions on a rule to implement legislation providing for the herding of game animals by landowners using aircraft to reduce game damage, and on the 2005 furbearer trapping quotas.

There will be informational discussions on a land acquisition; and options for the 2005-2006 bison-hunting season.

The FWP Commission will also be asked to endorse adding 96 acres to the Blue-Eyed Nellie WMA west of Anaconda.

A work session immediately following the commission meeting will consider the development of a statewide fish management plan.
