Becoming an Outdoors Woman program to host shooting clinics
(2005-05-31)
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources' Becoming an Outdoors
Woman (BOW) program is hosting a shooting clinic June 4, from 1-4 p.m.,
at the Metro Gun Club in Blaine.
This hands-on class includes safety instruction on how to use a gun and
actual target practice. The program, which costs $35, includes all
equipment. Women can bring their own shotguns if they prefer.
"Shooting clinics are a wonderful opportunity for women to try shooting
a shotgun under the supervision of qualified instructors and in a
stress-free environment," said Linda Bylander, BOW coordinator.
Additional shooting clinics will be offered in August.
The BOW program is also hosting a firearms safety class June 18-19 from
9-5 p.m. at Shooting Sports Education Center in Grand Rapids. The
firearms safety course is designed specifically for women. Participants
will be certified in the DNR Firearms Safety program. Preregistration is
required. The cost is $10.
Women can register by calling the DNR Information Center at (651)
296-6157 or toll free 1-888-MINNDNR (646-6367). All BOW programs are
listed on the DNR Web site at
www.dnr.state.mn.us/education. |
