Iowa Residents Fish Free June 3, 4 and 5
DES MOINES - Free fishing weekend starts June 3 for Iowa residents and based on the Memorial Day weekend success, anglers should have tremendous fishing. The fishing promotion allows Iowa residents to fish without a license during June 3, 4 and 5. All other fishing regulations remain in effect. "Free fishing weekend is a way for us to encourage Iowans to reconnect with fishing and enjoy some time with your family in the great outdoors," said Marion Conover, chief of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources fisheries bureau. There are a number of fishing clinics scheduled for the weekend. Activities vary at each clinic, but participants can expect to learn about casting, fish identification, knot tying, fish cleaning and more. Go to www.iowadnr.com, click on fish and fishing, then on learn to fish. Clinics are listed alphabetically by county. Iowa's free fishing weekend is part of the National Fishing and Boating Week, June 4 to 12, that encourages everyone to reconnect with the water.
