Contact: Susan Douglas Brown County State Park offers Free Fishing Weekend June 11 In celebration of Indiana’s Free Fishing Weekend, Brown County State Park’s nature center will host a fun-filled day of fishing for kids and their families. The program runs from 1-3:30 p.m. at the park’s Lake Ogle Shelter House. For Free Fishing weekend, Hoosiers won’t need the usual fishing license to fish at most DNR properties. (Children aged 17 and under never need a fishing license in Indiana.) In addition to free fishing, the day features games, bobber-making, rod-and-reel instructions, and prizes. Local fisherman Steve Wendt will present a program on basic fishing. Rods, reels, and bait will be available for those who don’t have their own. For a list of all DNR-sponsored Free Fishing Weekend activities, visit www.IN.gov./dnr and click on State Parks and Reservoirs Calendar of Special Events. This program is free to the public, except for the gate fee ($4/vehicle; $5 for out-of-state vehicles).
