AGFC lowering Grand Lake to facilitate
construction of weir |
|
EUDORA
- The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will begin lowering the level in
Grand Lake the first week of June in preparation of a new weir to be
placed in its drainage structure.
The lake will be drawn down slowly to
facilitate construction of the weir. Once in place, the weir will
keep the water level of Grand Lake at a constant level and can be
adjusted for minor water level changes in the future.
AGFC fisheries biologist Diana Andrews said, “We’re waiting until June
to draw the lake down, so the spawn will not be affected.
“Some of the boat ramps may be out of the water during the drawdown,”
Andrews continued, “So anglers should prepare for a little more work to
launch their boats than usual. But this temporary inconvenience will
result in a better lake for years to come.”
