Furbearers: Raccoon night hunting season: July 1-August 31.
Squirrel: Statewide: May 14-June 12.
Deer hunting seasons and bag limits:
Archery/Crossbow
Zones 1, 2, 6, 7, 8 and 10: Oct. 1, 2005-Feb. 15, 2006. Two deer, no more
than one legal buck. A zone doe quota permit is not required to take a doe
unless hunting when a firearms deer season is open. No dogs.
Zones 3 and 11: Oct. 1, 2005-Feb. 15, 2006. Three deer, no more than two
legal bucks. A zone doe quota permit is not required to take a doe unless
hunting when a firearms deer season is open. No dogs.
Zones 4, 4A, 5, 5A 9, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 16A and 17: Oct. 1, 2005-Feb. 15,
2006. Three deer, no more than two legal bucks. No dogs.
Special Youth Modern Gun Deer Hunt
All Zones: Nov. 5-6, 2005. One either-sex. No dogs. Includes the WMA's
requiring WMA doe quota permits but does not include WMA permit hunts. One
either-sex with no antler restrictions and Zone/WMA doe quota permits are
not required.
Muzzleloader
Zones 1, 2, 6, 7, 8 and 10: Oct. 15-23 and Dec. 17-19, 2005. One legal buck
(doe may be taken by holders of zone quota doe permits). No dogs.
Zones 3 and 11: Oct. 15-23 and Dec. 17-19, 2005. Three deer, no more than
one doe (doe may be taken by holders of zone quota doe permits). No dogs.
Zones 4 and 5: Closed.
Zones 4A, 5A, 14 and 15: Oct. 15-23 and Dec. 17-19, 2005. Three deer, no
more than two does. No dogs.
Zone 13: Oct. 15-23 and Dec. 17-19, 2005. Three deer, no more than one doe.

Zones 9, 12, 16, 16A and 17: Oct. 15-23 and Dec. 30, 2005-Jan. 1, 2006.

Modern Gun
Zones 1 and 2: Nov. 12-20 and Nov. 24-Dec. 4, 2005. One legal buck (does may

Elk
Zones 1, 2, 3 and 4 (Public Land Hunt) Sept. 26-30, 2005. Four bull permits
(one per zone). Dec. 5-9, 2005. Three bull permits (one each for zones 1, 2
and 4) and twelve antlerless permits (three per zone).
Zone 3 (Public Land Youth Hunt) Dec. 5-9, 2005. One either-sex permit. Youth
hunt. Youths under 16 years of age applying for an elk hunt will
automatically be in this drawing. If youth is drawn for both hunts (the
regular hunt and the youth hunt) the youth will receive the permit for which
he/she was first drawn for and a redraw will be done on the second permit.
Zone A (Private Land Hunt) Sept. 26-30 and Dec. 5-9, 2005. Either-sex. Limit
one. Quota of 5 elk per hunt.
Turkey (Fall)
Archery/Crossbow
All Zones: Oct. 1, 2005-Feb. 15, 2006. Limit one (1) either-sex turkey.
Firearms
Zones 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8 and 17: Oct. 24-30, 2005. Limit one (1) either-sex
turkey.
Zones 1A, 4, 4A, 4B, 5, 5A, 5B, 7A, 9, 9A, and 10: Closed.
Bear
Archery/Crossbow
Zones 1 and 2: Oct. 1-Nov. 30, 2005.
Zones 3, 4, 5, 5A, 6 and 7: Closed.

Modern Gun
Zones 1 and 2: Nov. 7-30, 2005.
Zone 5: Dec. 10-18, 2005. Arkansas lands lying east of the Mississippi River
are closed.
Zone 5A: Dec. 3-18, 2005. Arkansas lands lying east of the Mississippi River
are closed.
Zones 3, 4, 6 and 7: Closed.
Bag Limit
One.
Zone Quotas
200 bears may be taken in zone 1 by any method, 150 bears may be taken in
zone 2 by any method, 35 bears may be taken in zone 5 by modern gun and 15
bears may be taken in zone 5A by modern gun.
Special Youth Modern Gun Bear Hunt Zones 1 and 2: November 5-6, 2005. Limit
one. No dogs. Includes the WMAs in bear zones 1 and 2 but does not include
WMAs requiring a deer permit to harvest a bear.

June 4 - West Memphis Annual Catfishing Rodeo at the West Memphis City Park
Pond. Registration is at 7 a.m. with the rodeo taking place from 8 a.m.
until 12 noon.
June 9 - Talkin' Outdoors at the Corner Café with Steve "Wildman" Wilson,
6:30 p.m. on AETN. Topic is "Catchin' Catfish."

June 21 - AGFC Outdoor Hotline, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The show will feature the
Ivory-billed Woodpecker. A panel of experts will answer questions on the air
concerning the woodpecker as well as other topics such as the new license
tagging system, nature centers, new rules and regulations.
June 23 - Talkin' Outdoors at the Corner Café with Steve "Wildman" Wilson,
6:30 p.m. on AETN. Topic is "All About Snakes."

July 16 - Free kids' catfish derby for children age 1 to 15. The Catfish
Derby is co-sponsored by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and TAB
Learning Systems of Russellville. The AGFC will be providing 500 channel
catfish at the Lake Dardanelle State Park swim beach. Registration will
begin at 7:30 a.m. and fishing will be from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. A limited
number of fishing poles will be available, but children are encouraged to
bring their poles and they must provide their own bait.
