TILLAMOOK – The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife
is seeking written public comment by June 15 on a draft Hatchery Genetic
Management Plan (HGMP) for one of the Nehalem Hatchery winter steelhead
programs.
NOAA Fisheries requires ODFW to submit HGMPs for each hatchery's
current operational components for each fish species reared at a
facility. The stock under review is North Nehalem winter steelhead, also
known as stock 32, reared at North Fork Nehalem Hatchery.
Following public and ODFW review, the HGMP will be submitted to NOAA
Fisheries for final review. A copy of the draft winter steelhead HGMP
can be requested from the North Coast Watershed District office in
Tillamook at 503-842-2741. The draft also is posted on the ODFW Web site
at www.dfw.state.or.us on the
Fish Division Page.
