Fly Fishing Seminar in Colorado Springs

~ Intro Class for Beginners ~

The Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) is sponsoring a fly-fishing seminar to teach novice anglers the art of fly-fishing.

The seminar is June 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the DOW office at 4255 Sinton Road in Colorado Springs.

“Fly-fishing 101 is geared for beginners and those who have never fly-fished,” said Steve Lucero, an education specialist with the DOW.  “It’s a great opportunity for an introduction to fly-fishing in Colorado.”  The instructors are Steve Lucero, DOW biologist Cassey Cooley and District Wildlife Manager Reid DeWalt.

The class is divided into two sections.  Each student will receive classroom instruction plus hands-on practical techniques at a local lake.  A valid fishing license is required for those who desire to fish and receive instruction at the lake.

The price of an annual fishing license is $20.25 for Colorado residents.   A five-day fishing license is $18.25 and a one-day license is $5.25.  An annual fishing license for non-residents is $40.25.

Fly-fishing gear is provided by the DOW.

The seminar is free, but the class is limited to the first 25 people who sign up and reservations are required.  Call (719) 227-5200 for reservations.
