What: Fishing Fever, a free, family-oriented event featuring a wide variety of fishing and wildlife-related activities, ranging from fly-tying, casting and fish handling techniques to wildlife-viewing tours and children?s environmental education exhibits. A limited amount of fishing tackle will be available for loan.
Refuge lakes will be open to catch-and-release (barbless hook) fishing from 9 am to 3 pm. Anglers age 16 must have a valid Colorado State Fishing License.
Who: U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge and Leadville National Fish Hatchery); Colorado Division of Wildlife; Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Society; Raptor Rehabilitation Center; Sportsmen's Warehouse; Dick's Sporting Goods; 1 on 1 Fishing Experience; Fish Art Taxidermy.
When: Saturday, May 14, from 9 am to 3 pm. Entrance gate will open to the public at 8:30 am.
Where: Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge, Commerce City, Colorado South Gate entrance, 56th Avenue and Havana Street. Visitors will be directed to event parking.
Visuals: Public fishing and fishing-related activities, including kids fishing. Wildlife, including mule deer, raptors, prairie dogs, and coyotes. National Wildlife Refuge System National Fish Hatchery System and Colorado Division of Wildlife fish tank displays. Latest in fishing gear and technology; live animals for photographing.
Interviews: Fish and Wildlife Service personnel; general public.
