VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR LOCAL CONSERVATION PROJECT May 4, 2005 The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is looking for volunteers on Sat., May 14, willing to lend nature and our local schools a helping hand in Sebring. The FWC’s Ridge Rangers have scheduled a workday in Highlands County at Fred Wild Elementary School to help remove non-native, invasive plants from natural areas starting at 9 a.m. “Protecting natural areas by our schools provides an excellent learning opportunity for younger generations to explore, study and in turn appreciate nature,” said Lynne Flannery, Ridge Ranger Coordinator. To register for this project and learn more about the Ridge Ranger Volunteers, contact Lynne Flannery at (863) 699-3742 today.
