LITTLE
ROCK - The wildlife division of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission
has designed a new tool for sportsmen.
Hunters can access
harvest results by county, zone, wildlife management area and date.
It is an interactive web site designed to provide the public with
detailed harvest reports from the last two deer seasons. The data comes
directly from the scanned check sheets the AGFC has used the last two
years. It is the latest in a series of efforts to educate the public
about the state of wildlife in Arkansas by making data accessible to
anyone interested in the information. Other such projects include the
Satellite Mallard Tracking Program and the 2003-2004 AGFC Deer Season
Summary.
Examples of the information available includes the 2004-05 modern gun
season that opened on Nov. 13, 2004 when 14,692 bucks were taken on that
day. The total harvest for opening day of the modern gun season was
19,613 deer. That data can be compared with the 18,338 deer that were
taken on opening day of the 2003-04 season.
The website can be
accessed via the Hunting page at
